As an affiliate marketer, you need to get your message across concisely and precisely. Today, people are in a hurry and have no time for long-winded musings when they surf the web. That's why your online content has to attract, inspire, and cause your readers to act.
Affiliate marketers are often concerned with content. This may be blog postings, article writing, web page content, or e-mail newsletters to their target market. These platforms are important; however, you only have so much space and time to get your point across to your audience.
There are two things web readers dislike. The first is scrolling through huge blocks of unbroken dry text. The second is "fluff"; content that purports to be informative, but is really a sales-hype infomercial in disguise.
To make your online writing tight and useful to your readers consider the following:
Have Appropriate White Space.
Give your readers a chance to rest their eyes, even for a split-second before they have to move on to a new thought process. Break up your content into smaller chunks. This makes the reading look less daunting. This applies to articles you write and your web page and blog content. Therefore, try not to go beyond five sentences per paragraph.
Keep Your Sentences Shorter.
Online sentences should be shorter than hard copy ones. Try for an average of fourteen words per sentence. Yes, some will be longer, some shorter. However, fourteen is the average to shoot for. Your writing will seem vibrant when you follow this rule.
Use Bullet Points and Sub Headings.
There are three good reasons for doing this:
- This gives your content an organized look which encourages further reading.
- This allows your readers to scan your content to pinpoint specific information.
- It gives your readers a chance to skim the article quickly to get a quick overview of it.
On top of all of the above, give your audience useful information that informs. They get enough of flashy commercials directed their way each day. Give them quality information they can use to make informed affiliate product buying decisions.
